Bridal Lingerie Guide: What to Buy (and Wear) for Your Bridal Boudoir Shoot

The sales are on, and your bridal lingerie is waiting

Black Friday is the perfect moment to find the set

Black Friday lands on Friday 27 November this year, with Cyber Monday on the 30th, and many shops start their offers earlier in the month. If you’re planning your wedding in Mallorca, it’s a lovely time to treat yourself to the bridal lingerie you’ve had your eye on.

There’s one small thing to remember before you add to basket. Many modern wedding dresses have built-in support, so your set may not make it under the dress. Your bridal boudoir shoot is the perfect occasion to wear it, so it’s worth choosing pieces that look as good on camera as they do on the hanger. Here’s how.

Start with comfort and fit

The best lingerie is the set you forget you’re wearing

The most flattering lingerie is the lingerie that fits you well and feels lovely against your skin. When you’re comfortable, you relax, and it shows in every photo.

  • Try it on at home. Move, sit, stretch and lift your arms to check that it stays where it should.

  • Skip anything itchy or heavy. If you’re adjusting a piece constantly, it’s not the one.

  • Pick soft, stretchy fabrics. They sit well on the body and don’t dig in.

  • Choose what feels like you. I’d rather see you in a simple set you love than a showstopper you feel awkward in.

Choose colours and fabrics that photograph beautifully

White, ivory and champagne for the bridal look, one deeper colour for contrast

For the classic bridal look, white, ivory and champagne tones in lace, soft satin, tulle or sheer mesh are timeless, and they pair beautifully with a veil. If you’d like a second, less bridal outfit, a deeper shade such as black, navy, burgundy or emerald gives the set of photos a completely different mood.

A few extra tips:

  • Texture photographs well. Delicate lace and soft, matte satin look especially good on camera.

  • Avoid distracting logos. Plain, clean pieces keep the focus on you.

  • Think about your skin tone. Choose the shades that flatter you most.

Which pieces to look for

A mix of statement pieces and simple layers

You don’t need a huge wardrobe, only a few good pieces that give us variety:

  • A bodysuit. Elegant, flattering and a bridal favourite.

  • A two-piece set. A bra and briefs that match are a great base look.

  • A robe or kimono. Silk or satin is perfect for layering, and for the “getting ready” feel.

  • A garter, stockings and heels. The details that finish the look.

  • A veil and some jewellery. Your veil, earrings or a little “something blue” make the photos feel unmistakably bridal.

How to shop the sales smartly

A few practical tips before the Black Friday rush

  • Check the returns policy. Make sure you can return or exchange items, particularly over the festive period.

  • Allow for delivery times. Orders can take longer in sale season, so order early.

  • Consider two sizes. If returns are free, ordering a second size makes it easy to find the perfect fit.

  • Keep the tags on until you’re sure. Try everything on at home first.

  • Don’t buy everything. You can start with one or two pieces and fill in the gaps later.

  • Think beyond the wedding night. Buy it because it makes you feel wonderful, and enjoy it at your shoot.

Don’t worry if you’re not sure

I’ll guide you on what to wear and what to buy

Choosing lingerie can feel like a lot, especially if you’ve never done a shoot like this. That’s why I send each bride a detailed guide on what to wear, what to bring and where to shop, so you never have to guess. If you’d like, we can even go shopping together.

You also don’t need to buy anything new. If you already have a set you love, bring it, and we’ll style it beautifully.

What happens at your bridal boudoir shoot

From hair and makeup to your final album

The best time to book your shoot is the day of your hair and makeup trial, so you’re already styled and there’s no extra appointment in the diary. At my Palma studio I guide your styling and every pose, down to your hands, straps and eyeline, so you never have to know how to pose. Everything is private, and nothing is shared without your say-so.

Afterwards, your photos can become a physical keepsake, such as an album or Polaroids, a unique gift for your groom that you can give him on the morning of the wedding or on your honeymoon.

Bridal lingerie for your boudoir shoot: your questions answered

What should I wear for a bridal boudoir shoot?

Bring a bridal look in white, ivory or champagne, such as a bodysuit or two-piece set, plus a robe, a veil and a garter if you like. A second, less bridal outfit in a deeper colour adds variety.

Should I buy new lingerie for my boudoir shoot?

Not necessarily. A set you already own and love works beautifully. If you do buy something new, choose comfort and fit first, and try it on at home.

What colour lingerie is best for a bridal boudoir shoot?

White, ivory and champagne give the classic bridal look. Deeper colours such as black, navy or burgundy make a lovely contrast for a second outfit.

When is the best time to book a bridal boudoir shoot in Mallorca?

The day of your hair and makeup trial is ideal. It fits around your planning and leaves plenty of time for your album and gifts to be ready before the wedding.
