The trend taking over wedding TikTok
Bridesmaids, a stack of Polaroids and a very surprised groom
You’ve probably seen the videos. Throughout the wedding day, one bridesmaid after another quietly finds the groom and hands him a Polaroid of his bride. Each one is a little more daring than the last. He opens it, goes pink, slips it into his jacket pocket, and by the fourth or fifth he has caught on and is grinning from ear to ear.
It has become one of the most talked-about wedding-day surprises of the moment, and it builds anticipation for the wedding night with a lot of humour and a little mischief. The big question is how you actually pull it off without the stress of last-minute phone selfies.
Why a professional shoot beats a phone photo
Already taken, already gorgeous, waiting for their moment
The pressure of “taking a sexy photo” the week of your wedding is exactly what you don’t need. Phone pictures taken in a rush rarely feel like you, and privacy is a real worry when images are stored on a device or sent around.
A bridal boudoir shoot turns it into something you look forward to. You come to a private studio months before the wedding, we have fun, you feel wonderful, and we capture a set of Polaroids for the day. They are real, physical and one of a kind, and you choose exactly how revealing they are. Elegant, playful, cheeky or properly spicy: your call.
How it works, step by step
From your shoot in Palma to the wedding day itself
Book your bridal boudoir shoot months ahead. The best moment is the day of your hair and makeup trial, so you’re already glowing and styled and there’s no extra trip.
We shoot at my Palma studio. I guide your styling, your lingerie and every pose, down to your hands, straps and eyeline. You never have to know how to pose.
Your Polaroids are created during the session. They’re yours to keep private and decide on.
Hand them to your girls for safekeeping. Give the stack to your maid of honour or a trusted bridesmaid, ideally in a pouch or envelope, with a simple running order.
Let them do the rest on the day. One Polaroid at a time, from getting ready to the last dance.
Keeping it classy (and private)
Practical tips so nothing ends up where it shouldn’t
The trend is playful, and a little planning keeps it that way:
Choose your level. With everyone you know at the wedding, you may prefer suggestive and tasteful over fully explicit. Because you’ve chosen your Polaroids yourself, you decide.
Pick one bridesmaid as the keeper. She holds the stack and hands them out in order, so nothing gets lost or left lying around.
Plan the timing. Spread them across the day: getting ready, before the ceremony, the drinks reception, dinner, the first dance and the exit.
Ask him to keep them close. An inside jacket pocket does the job.
Choose a photographer you trust. Your shoot is completely private, and nothing is shared unless you say yes.
Why Mallorca is the perfect place for it
Your pre-wedding trip already has the perfect slot
If you’re getting married in Mallorca, you’re probably already planning a pre-wedding trip to the island for venue visits, tastings and your hair and makeup trial. That visit is the ideal moment for your bridal boudoir shoot.
Fitting it into the same day means no extra trip and nothing squeezed in the final weeks. And because it happens months ahead, your Polaroids, album and groom’s gift are ready long before the wedding. The whole experience runs in English, so planning something this personal from abroad feels easy.
More than a trend: a moment that’s yours
Confidence first, surprise second
The Polaroids are the fun part, but the best part is how you feel doing it. Wedding planning is full of other people’s needs: guests, suppliers, timings. This is one hour that is only about you.
I don’t slim or reshape bodies in editing. What you see is you, photographed beautifully, and many brides tell me the best moment is seeing their photos and thinking, “wow, that’s me.” You then arrive at your wedding day carrying that feeling, with a surprise for your groom already prepared.
Spicy Polaroids at weddings: your questions answered
What are spicy Polaroids at a wedding?
They’re intimate, flirty Polaroid photos of the bride that bridesmaids hand to the groom, one at a time, throughout the wedding day as a private surprise.
How do I plan the spicy Polaroids trend?
Book a bridal boudoir shoot months before the wedding, choose your Polaroids, and give them to your maid of honour or a trusted bridesmaid with a running order for the day.
When should I book a bridal boudoir shoot for my wedding in Mallorca?
The best time is the day of your hair and makeup trial, ahead of the wedding, so your album and Polaroids are ready in good time. This works especially well if you’re coming to the island for a pre-wedding planning trip.
Is there a bridal boudoir photographer in Mallorca?
Yes. I’m a bridal boudoir photographer based in Palma, specialised in bridal boudoir, and I work in English.
Does this work for couples heiraten auf Mallorca (marrying in Mallorca) from abroad?
Yes. Many of my brides travel to Mallorca for their wedding from the UK, Germany and the US, and I plan the shoot around the dates you’re already visiting.
